Activision-Blizzard’s ( ATVI ) “Guitar Hero” game is not living up to expectations, notes Cowen & Co. analyst Douglas Creutz in a note to clients this morning in which he nevertheless maintains an “Outperform” rating on the stock. Based on sales so far of 500,000 units for “Guitar Hero 5,” which went on sale Sept. 1 , Creutz estimates the title will sell only 1.5 million units in its first year of release, well below his expectation of 4.7 million units.
